ahhh hey guys....so i haven't updated in FOREVER! i have no excuse!
um so FAME at NSMT ended which was sad but i had such a fun time doing
it. I love those guys and I can't wait to go to NY in August and hang
out with lots of them.
Summer has been pretty fun i guess. I'm choreographing the DREAM BALLET
in Oklahoma! at Peacock. So I've been there a lot doing that. It can
get kinda frustrating but its fine. I'm having fun doing it and it
should be good. <
so far the highlight of my summer has been my CCM ORIENTATION!!! SO MUCH FUN!
My mom and I got there really early sunday (orientation started
monday..) like around 11am because it was the only flight that day to
Cincinnati. So we got there and had an early lunch in the hotel and
then took a short nap. then we went to this mall which was HUGE and had
the best upscale stores. I bought so much and spent way too much money.
I bought 4 pairs of jeans at lucky brand and I LOVE THEM. And a NEW
pair of prada sunglasses, which i didnt really need...at all...but i
had to have them because they are HOT. anyway, then we were in kind of
a rush because we were seeing Charlie..Factory and we needed to eat
first. We went to this Italian place called Maggolias i think and it
was amazing. I had the best Chicken Parmesian ever. The portions were
HUGE so i got really full but was satisfied. After we ate we actually
still had a little time and we remembered we left my pajamas at home so
we went to Macys to buy some new ones. haha. Then we saw the movie (my
2nd time). Now my mom NEVER goes to the movies. The last movie she saw
was Finding Neverland and before that, Phantom of the Opera. So this
was a big occasion. haha. Anyway then we went home and we went to bed
early.
Monday morning came way to early and i had to get all my stuff
ready because I was checking into the Dorms for that night cause thats
where all the kids stay. So i went and checked in and then went to some
building for some big meeting and then met the BEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD
: THE CCM MUSICAL THEATRE CLASS OF 2009. There were about 10 of us
(MT majors) at the orientation and we missing i think 6. We all hit it off
SO well. EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL (give or take a little). We are all
different too, which is cool. We were all SO hyper and crazy when the
Student Leaders were talking to us that they got annoyed with us,
sorta. They were like "MT's stop blabbering! the musical theatre majors
are always the loud ones!" haha it was hilarious.
I can't remember all the things we had to do that day. A lot of it was boring but because
fun because we were all together. We had a dumb Library tour. Campus
tour, etc. There was a small recital around 6, where a voice major, 2
musical theatre majors, a jazz band, and a drama major, all performed.
They were all incredible. The jazz band was incredible. the song they
played was a little long but whatever. The voice major had a gorgeous
voice, but her song was also a little long lol. The MT's were amazing.
Jen Temem who is going to be a Junior in the program sang Alto's
Lament. She was HILARIOUS. Her timing was perfect and her belt was so
crystal clear. The guy sang Giants in the Sky and he was pretty good. I
think it was a bad song to sing for that recital, because it was kinda
of hard to take it out of context. He had a really great voice tho and
acted it well. The drama major did a cute monologue...I can't remember
what it was about but i remember really liking it.
The facilities at CCM are so beautiful. They just did a HUGE renovation on everything.
So then after we had dinner which was fun then we were done for the night. We all went
back to the dorms to relax and get ready because some of the
upperclassman MT majors were throwing us a party at one of their
houses. We had a little while so all of us guys (5 of us there) just
chilled and talked and got to know each other more. then it was about
10 and we all headed over to the house.
I am not going to take about the party too much. Lets just say it was
the craziest party ive ever been to. Of course more than just the
musical theatre majors showed up. like all the drama majors were there
and lots of others. I don't remember much of the night....lol. I
remember it being crazy fun tho. Lots of the upperclassmen musical
theatre kids were there too (i dont know why they wanted to be in
Cincinnati for their summer but whatever...) so it was really cool
meeting them and talking to them..as much as we could talk lol. Anyway
thats enough about that night.
Got about 3 hours sleep and we all went to breakfast at 8. Next we had
to go to this RETARDED thing where we were all broken up into different
groups (all different majors) and we had to like make this flag that
had to do with community and UC and dumb stuff. All of us musical
theatre kids walked in late, but it wasnt a big deal because it was
just he Student Leaders in charge so they didnt care. So we finished
that, then we all had to go watch this really boring skit that the
Student Leaders put on. Then we had to go to more boring seminars and
stuff.
Then we had some free time and a bunch of us MT's went to the UC
Bookstore and bought lots of stuff and took lots of pictures (coming
soon!) with all the merchandise.
Then all of us musical theatre majors had to go to a meeting with Aubrey Berg
(Bubba, as he likes to be called), the chairman of the Musical Theatre.
He pretty much told us what to expect for the coming year and what to prepare for the fall and
stuff. We all introducted ourselves to him, etc. Hes intimidating, but
very funny.
Next we had to go register for classes. SO excited for my
classes. NOT excited for 8am Music Theory classes on
mondays/wednesdays/fridays and sight-singing at 8am on
tuesdays/thursdays. But my schedule is so hectic.
I'm not going to go into detail about it because this live journal
entry is already to long.
So anyway after that we had to go get our IDs. Then I had to go because
my mom and I had to catch our flight. SO SAD LEAVING EVERYONE! I didn't
want to go! I ALREADY love those kids and CANNOT wait for the next 4
years of my life with them.
I feel so lucky and fortunate to be in this class. I feel like
everything is falling into place the way I wanted it to and I am so
happy. :)
ok wrapping this up...
Saw CAROUSEL at Reagle Players tonight. It was awesome! The Sets and
Orchestra were SO beautiful. Sarah Pfisterer as Julie Jordan was
fabulous. Reminded me a lot of Kelli 0'Hara. She's playing Maria in The
Sound of Music so im excited! Nat Chandler played Billy Bigelow. He had
a lot of broadway credits and such. His voice was GORGEOUS but his
acting was kind of weak. He just didn't grasp the character...at all.
The girl who played Carrie Pipperedge and guy who played Mr. Snow were
PERFECT. Shirley Jones as Nettie was ok. She acted it fine but her
voice didnt really fit it. She sounded good when she went high. But a
lot of her music is written in the middle range and she didnt have much
there....but her "You'll Never Walk Alone" was astonishing. All in all
the show was amazing. I AM SO EXCITED TO DO THE SOUND OF MUSIC!!!!
ok im not writting anymore because this is so long. If you read this
entire thing, then i applaud you. goodnight all.
